Metalized beads are beads with an acrylic core and a metallic finish. The acrylic core is often made using a cell cast process. Once the cast has set the acrylic core that is to form the bead is removed and a finish is added. The finish can be of any metal alloy but is often gold or silver plated. The plating can wear or chip over time but will last much longer if it has been antiqued. This is because the antiquing process creates a hard shell around the bead which resist chipping. Because metalized beads are so inexpensive and lightweight, there are many more designs, sizes, and finishes to choose from than other metal beads. We've chosen to carry only some of the most popular or exotic.
