Make Your Own Decorative Jewelry Bail

It's often difficult to find the right bail for your bead design. In those cases why not make your own.
  1. Cut about 5" of wire. 22 gauge or less works best. The heavier the bead the lower the gauge needed.
  2. Using your round nose pliers fold the wire in half and twist so that the bail fold is at a right angle to the split between the wire. You want it to hang so that the decorative ends are facing forward.
  3. Add a stablizer bead like our essential heishes or saucer beads
  4. Add your bead and then another stablizer bead.
  5. Spread out the wire ends so the bead doesn't slip.
  6. Use your roundnose pliers to form the bottom loops facing each other.
We've presented just one design in this tip but with a little imagination you could expand on it to make lots of pretty and unusal combinations. For example try making different types of loops or colored wire for a little variety.
