How to Use a Crimping Tool / Plier

To use the tool, make sure that the beading wires are not crossed inside the crimp bead. Place the crimp bead in the inner jaws of the tool and press down hard to make a dent in the crimp bead. Remove the crimp bead, turn it so the dent is horizontal, and place it in the outer jaws. Squeeze gently to fold the crimp. Turning the crimp bead while gently squeezing will make it a bit rounder. Once you have finished crimping give the wire a little tug to make sure it is secure.

The #1 problem that people usually have with crimping is using a crimp bead that is too large for their chosen diameter of beading wire. If there is too much space inside the crimp bead, then it will break when folded. Make sure that the inner diameter of the crimp bead is the right size for the beading wire you want to use.

Micro crimps (2mm or less) are designed for finer wire or to keep beads stable on illusion necklaces. Flatten a micro crimp with a micro crimping plier.

Quick Tip:

To tuck wire wraps close to the stem of a wrapped loop, use the outer jaw of your crimping pliers. Position the notch around the trimmed end of the wraps and squeeze gently. You will have a neat finish without flattening the wraps.
